Update

2015-05-01

Just a quick update on things. These past few months I've been sporadically working on a new game of the pornographic persuasion. Strictly speaking, I haven't yet accomplished much in the way of the game proper. I've laid out a skeletal plot structure, characters, themes, etc., as well as created a fair bit of stand-in art, but there has been no progress when it comes to production-quality work as yet. The closest thing to that has been a handful of game creation tools I've written in Python/PyQt5 to help aid in the manufacture of the game itself -- location editor, conversation editor, etc..

Truth be told I haven't even decided if I'm going to sell it or just open-source it and see how that goes. I would prefer to have money, obviously, but I don't think I'm going to attempt to sell it without the protection of first forming an LLC. Given my career aspirations, I don't know if I want to use the same studio banner for my porn game as I do for my 'legit' games, and if I'd need a separate LLC for each studio name then I don't think I want to bother with it. On the other hand, due to the nature of the game I can only assume that open-sourcing it will turn it into a dead project. I can't imagine that there are a ton of talented CG artists who want to spend their time lovingly crafting a hundred different locations for someone else's stupid point-and-click porn game.

Ironically, I hardly give a fuck about software 'piracy' at all. The only reason I'm going to bother with all this LLC bullshit is to protect myself from overly-litigious publishers.

Who knows. It might just die like so many other projects. I'll post another update in a few months if it's starting to go anywhere.
